Voice for the Voluntary Sector in Derbyshire

Intro

The Voice for the Voluntary Sector Project aims to build the capacity of frontline voluntary and community organisations to participate effectively in Local Strategic Partnerships and other representational forums. It has been funded by the Big Lottery for three years and will work with organisations in Derbyshire, excluding Derby city.

The aims of the project are:

  • To develop public sector’s understanding and appreciation of the value of VCS contribution
  • To raise awareness amongst the VCS about Local Area Agreements, Local Strategic Partnerships and the benefits of being involved
  • To enhance communication mechanisms to enable partnership working
  • To provide the frontline VCS with the tools and confidence to represent and participate fully in consultations
  • To enable VCS to align their outcomes with the public sector where appropriate and to respond to commissioning opportunities

How will the Project achieve this?

The Project Officer will work in partnership with 3D members to

  • Deliver an LAA email bulletin to all frontline organisations in Derbyshire
  • Work with LSP Reps to improve their communication with frontline organisations
  • Provide LSP Reps and any frontline organisation that wants to know more with free training opportunities
  • Organise LAA / VCS Issues Events in partnership with Derbyshire County Council
